Evans Head

20 °C

Left Nambucca on Wednesday 26th and booked in for 3 nights at Evans Head. With our great communication skills of Helen's yelling and Dan not listening we got Pepe and Lucy ready for the road. Hooked up and traveling in the rain, our first stop was New Italy, a little bit of Italy in Northern N.S.W., with the history of the Italians that came to the area back in the late 1800's. Good coffee and excellent Lasagne for lunch. Even the statue of David! Arrived about 3pm and set up camp, no yelling, I used the walkie talkie, makes it easier.

Morning walk accompanied by dolphins surfing the waves in lovely weather. Explored the area and at Chinaman's beach more dolphins surfing.
Fish Co-op had wonderful fresh fish, blue swimmers crabs and prawns which we enjoyed eating. Weather changed today Friday, very cool night, so glad we bought some warm clothes with us. Wind was very strong so walking or sitting out in it was not pleasant. Visited the local museum and then we stayed in Lucy watching some Queenslanders setting up their tents, blowing away, while they were trying to put them up. So glad we have Lucy and our tent days are over.

Heading for the Queensland boarder tomorrow first one we cross. Staying at Helen's sister's in Tambourine for a few weeks to see family and friends in the area.

Trying to upload some photos so hope the work.

All Good to Go

semi-overcast 24 °C

We had a good result from the tests Helen had so all the worry is over and we can now get organised to start our adventure. Planning to leave after the school holidays finish and that's late next week. Dan has spent time cleaning and polishing Pepe and we can now start to draw lines on our map of Australia up on the wall.

and so the adventure begins .............................

Happy Easter

sunny 24 °C

Enjoying Easter with family at Nambucca, beautiful weather and a swim at the beach this morning was lovely. Not planning to leave here until results of a test I'm having on Friday 21st, so hoping all will go well and we will be on the road by May.

Sunday 2nd April, 2017

overcast 23 °C

Not all goes to plan, good idea not to have too many in place as we have learnt this week. Firstly Debbie the Cyclone hit northern Queensland and her force was felt all the way to Canberra. Debbie blow The Whitsundays area 'out of the water' and then joining with her mate 'The Cold Front' from the south, poured rain and gale force winds all along the east coast. Inland wasn't saved with floods drowning towns along rivers that couldn't cope with the heavy down pours. We decided to stay in Nambucca and wait it out, safe and dry in our shed. But then something else came along that stopped us. I got a positive result from a test I had before I left Sydney and have to get checked out so I'm doing that this week here in Nambucca. Hopefully it will not be anything serious but its better to get it sorted before we head off officially.

Our Map Of Australia went up on Lucy's wall today, all in readiness of being scribbled on all over!
